Umoja Tanzania is an Arusha-based nonprofit empowering young people and communities through education, well-being, and sustainable livelihoods. Hilda Lema is the Director of Umoja Tanzania, a non-profit organization based in Arusha that empowers youth and communities through education, skills training, and sustainable livelihoods. Originally from Kilimanjaro, Hilda grew up in a family that deeply valued education, inspiring her to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and later a Master’s in Community Development. With over 14 years of experience in the NGO sector, she has held key leadership roles, including Programme Manager and Compliance Director, where she developed expertise in organizational leadership, program design, and community advocacy.
At Umoja, Hilda is dedicated to creating opportunities for vulnerable groups, particularly young people and women, believing in their potential to drive social and economic change. Her vision is to foster a society where youth are self-reliant, women are economically empowered, and communities thrive. Hilda’s leadership reflects her commitment to sustainable development and transformative impact in Tanzania.
