The Sunflower Trust is a Kenyan non-profit organization founded in 2017 with a mission to empower vulnerable girls and children through holistic education. Based in Kibera, the organization delivers literacy, STEM, and life skills programs that nurture confidence, creativity, and leadership. Through flagship programs including PALE and SEED, The Sunflower Trust fosters lifelong learning, gender equality, and empowerment—helping girls rise above barriers to build self-reliant futures. Its vision is a peaceful and equitable world where every girl can access quality education, unlock her potential, and become a catalyst for community transformation.

Rukia Sebit is the Founder and Executive Director of The Sunflower Trust, a community-based organization in Kibra, Kenya, that empowers girls through education, mentorship, and leadership development. With over a decade of experience in youth and women’s empowerment, Rukia has led impactful programs advancing literacy, STEM education, and girls’ rights. Her leadership has strengthened local advocacy for equitable education and built strong partnerships with different organizations. Rukia is deeply committed to creating opportunities for girls to thrive as confident, self-reliant leaders driving social and community transformation.
