Smart Girls, founded in 2012 and registered in 2015, is a leading youth women-led nonprofit organization. They annually train 150-200 young girls and women in economic programs and 20-30 peer educators who engage 25-30,000 young people in community development initiatives. Their vision empowers girls with self-esteem, decision-making abilities, and visionary change through health, education, and advocacy programs that transform lives and communities.

Jamila Mayanja is an Award winning Ugandan social entrepreneur and educator. She is the founder and CEO of Smart Girls Uganda, a social enterprise that empowers and supports girls and women through trainings to build their life and economical skills. Smart Girls has famous girls and women empowerment programs like the Girls with tools where they offer hands-on skilling to vulnerable girls and young women in male dominated non-traditional STEM careers like Automotive and electrical engineering. She also innovated a recycled solar smart bag, that is a comprehensive menstrual hygiene kit/back packer with educational programming designed with and for girls in Uganda. She is the 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Impact Leader, won 2nd position Award for the Enable Awa Awards under the innovation category and won the community impact award in 2023 and 2021 from Mkaziprenuer and Uweal respectively.
