Seven Passes Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to the holistic development and empowerment of children, families, and youth in rural communities. Focused on educational support, life skills training, parental capacity building, and community engagement, the organization works to create lasting positive impact by strengthening relationships, attachments, and growth across generations. Seven Passes addresses the unique challenges facing rural children and youth by promoting development in a comprehensive, family-centered way—recognizing that children thrive when the adults and communities around them are also supported and equipped.

Miss Sive Vaaltein, 34, is the Director of the Seven Passes Initiative and a committed advocate for social justice and community development. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Fort Hare and co-authored a 2017 journal article on child poverty. With over a decade of experience across government, private, and NGO sectors, her work focuses on child protection, family strengthening, educational upliftment and violence prevention. Sive is passionate about fitness, healthy living, and outdoor adventures, and enjoys time with her son Luca. She is dedicated to leading a strong, effective NGO in rural George.
