Rwanda Assistive Technology Access (RATA) is a registered NGO dedicated to ensuring accessible assistive technologies for people with disabilities in Rwanda. RATA envisions a society where persons with disabilities can study and live independently through the use of assistive technology. By working to remove barriers to access and building local capacity around adaptive tools and resources, RATA advances inclusion and equal opportunity for people with disabilities across Rwanda, enabling greater independence, participation, and quality of life for those who have historically been underserved.

Rene William Ngabo is an assistive technology and disability inclusion enthusiast who holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Masters degree in Special Needs Education.In 2018, he founded Rwanda Assistive Technology Access (RATA), a registered non-governmental organization in Rwanda with vision of contributing to a society where persons with disabilities are able to study and live independently through the use of Assistive Technology.He often contributes to different initiatives mostly for advancing accessible Assistive technologies for persons with disabilities in Africa and in 2020 he received Joey Wallace Assistive Technology Scholarship. He is also a social impact incubator Rwanda champion 2022.
