Okoa Maisha Ya Watoto (OMAWA), ‘Save Children’s Lives’ in Swahili, was established to support and advocate for the needs and rights of vulnerable children in rural districts in Tanzania.
The founding member recognized that vulnerable children were not attending school because their basic needs were not being met, and they could not pay school fees, or buy school supplies.
The organization’s main activity is to support vulnerable children to attend and thrive in schools (primary, secondary and vocational training) with particular focus on young girls.
Alongside education, we work with children’s elderly grandparents (grandmothers) and caregivers to increase their ability to support children’s long-term education and well-being.
Joseph is a pioneer of education, mostly girls’ education; he has initiated several initiatives that gives vulnerable children from rural district in Tanzania access to education.
