Gufasha Girls Foundation is a youth-led organization committed to ending child marriage, expanding access to quality education, and creating safe, empowering environments for girls in underserved communities in Uganda. Through leadership training, community engagement, family empowerment, and school-based programs, Gufasha strengthens the support systems that protect girls' rights and opportunities. Guided by its mission to empower girls and young women through advocacy, capacity building, and education, Gufasha envisions a world where every girl achieves her fullest potential and contributes to all aspects of life.

Joan Kembabazi is a Visionary social entrepreneur, and the Founder and Team Leader of Gufasha Girls Foundation, a grassroots organization established in memory of her best friend, who tragically lost her life to child marriage at the age of 13.

Joan and her Team are fiercely committed to ending child marriage and advancing gender equality across Uganda through grassroots advocacy, creating safe spaces, building leadership skills, providing access to economic empowerment skills and resources and expanding educational opportunities for vulnerable girls.

Joan's leadership has earned national and international recognition, including the 2024 Women Empowerment Award and being named among Uganda’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2022.
