Engage South Africa is a non-profit organization committed to strengthening democracy and human rights through active youth leadership and civic participation. Working with high school-age youth, the organization delivers educational and skills-development programs that build knowledge, confidence, and civic agency. Its programs equip young people to lead community-based action, access decision-making spaces, and exercise their civic rights and responsibilities. Engage South Africa envisions a democracy actively shaped by an informed, empowered generation of youth who are co-creators of positive change in their communities.

Gugulethu Mkandla is the National Project Coordinator at Engage South Africa (Engage For All NPC), a non-profit organisation committed to strengthening democracy and human rights in South Africa through the promotion of youth leadership and civic engagement. She leads the national implementation of their programmes with high school youth in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape. Since 2018 she has helped co shaped Engage’s strategy, systems and culture, with a focus on reflective, participatory, data informed practice. Gugulethu holds degrees in Psychology and Management and a certificate in Mindfulness Based Interventions, and is committed to inclusive, community-driven impact.
