Etienne is a changemaker-maker and the founder of the SINA (Social Innovation Academy), an organization whose mission is to enable disadvantaged youth and refugee communities in Africa to unleash their potentials and become self-reliant through social entrepreneurship. The freesponsible and self-organized SINA model has scaled into six locations, and was recognized by the UNHCR Innovation Award. SINA has produced over 40 independent social enterprises. Etienne’s journey began in Uganda in 2006, when he founded an educational sponsorship program for orphans and the NGO Jangu e.V. He holds a Master’s degree in “Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation” and has been paying forward his experience as a lecturer at the Management Center Innsbruck. He is also a resource person for the Asian Productivity Organization, and facilitates the ChangemakerXchange. Etienne became an MIT D-Lab Innovation Ecosystem Builder and won the 2018 Evolutionary Future Challenge.
